Insurance claims: How to act with the company
1. How to act when you have had an accident without fault, BEFORE reporting to the insurance.
The first thing you should know is that you are free to choose the workshop of repair that you want, so that they repair the vehicle.
Only in the event that your policy has a clause that states that you must take it to concerted workshops of your company, always you can choose the workshop.
Therefore, before calling the company to say that you have had an accident, it is convenient to be clear about this point, to know where they will take the vehicle to be repaired.
Whether or not it is stated in the policy, they they will always try that they take the cars to their concerted workshops, since they are workshops that normally pay little for the hourly rate, and they make them put alternative and non-original parts.
Putting non-original parts on the vehicle it is an illegal practice if it is unknown to the customer, who must sign a sheet authorizing the installation of said parts to the repair shop.
In addition, they will want to convince you by saying that in other workshops they will not do a good job for you, and that only in concerted ones they will, when it does not have to be this way.
2. What do I do if, even though I have the agreed workshops clause in the policy, I want to take my car to my trusted workshop for repair? Is there that possibility?
The answer is Yeah. The company must tell you that you will always have the possibility of taking it to the workshop of your choice, especially if we are talking about a hit without fault.
The only drawback of doing it this way is that you will have to pay the invoice to the workshop, and then send it to your company to be paid.
From what our customers tell us, the medium term in which they usually receive payment from the company is usually one month.
3. Possible discrepancies with experts or expert reports carried out.
We always prefer that vehicles be appraised "in situ" in our workshop. Nowadays, due to teleworking, there are more and more occasions in which companies, for the convenience of themselves and their clients, request Photographs of the vehicle or do a video-expertise. In this way, the transfer of the vehicle to the workshop for an appraisal is saved. Other times, they can also ask you to go to an expert center to have an expert look at your car right there.
The best thing will always be that the car can be seen where are they going to repair it?, so that the workshop manager or person in charge, may have already seen the car before, and know what it has, so that when the expert arrives, nothing escapes us. If it is done through video-expertise, in the end there is always something that does not look good, and it remains to be done, or insufficient damage has been done.
Even when the expert comes to the workshop in person, sometimes there are discrepancies between what we estimate and what they estimate. In most cases, we end up reaching an agreement and things don't get any worse. However, on occasion, discrepancies usually come from want us to repair parts that we consider to be more than enough damaged to opt for replacement, or because they want us to put in an alternative replacement, which we we never accept (we insist, something totally illegal with the client's ignorance, unless indicated in the policy).
We have more benefit if we repair than if we replace, but our first objective is that the car is perfect, whether it is a 20-year-old car, or a 2-week car.
That is why we will fight for what we create best for the vehicle and, therefore, with what the client will be more satisfied. In these cases in which an agreement is not reached with the expert, the client will be asked what he wants to do, and he will have two options, abide by what the expert has said, or do what we have mentioned in point 2, which it is that the client pays for the repair with what we consider correct, and then he collects it from the insurance.
4. Claims with fault of vehicles insured at all risks, with or without excess.
In these cases, we return to point 1 (or 2). Since it is their fault, all the more reason, the company will want them to take their vehicles to their subsidized workshops.
Once again, if your policies do not specify otherwise, you can take the car to be repaired Where you want.
Always keep in mind that the company will make you see that taking the vehicle to its concerted workshops is the best option.
They will tell you that in other places they won't do you jobs so well, nor will they look so much for the cars, that they will not give you a replacement vehicle, etc.
We are a multi-brand workshop that has not been open for more than 40 years by chance.
We feel proud of the work we do.
we use materials original and all our products are from top brands (we do not use white or cheap brands to reduce costs, we prioritize the quality of our services over the profit we may have).
